Intonation Says Farewell to Taylor Park
We are sad to announce that Intonation will be vacating our classroom and studio space at Taylor Park, referred to as Studio 47, at the end of July. Studio 47 has been a home for our students and staff, having been renovated and maintained as a practice space, classroom, production & recording studio, and gathering place for the organization for over a decade. Recent graduate and Intonation instructor Johnathan Campbell commented, “Studio 47 is a place where students develop into stars. Studio 47 has strong ties to us. This place was our escape from school, work, and everyday lives.”
Intonation is in the process of moving out of this space, as the entire park facility has been identified as a shelter and respite center for migrant families. This means that all program partners and staff have been asked to relocate by August 1st. We are canceling our final session of Summer Camp, but are able to continue using Kennicott Park as our administrative office, as well as for our Saturday Band programs. Intonation aims to find a new home as the amount of time that Taylor Park will be used for this purpose is unclear.
While we are sad to lose this space, we have the utmost compassion for the families who will be using it as shelter and to find community during a difficult time. We support them and are looking into ways we can provide the families with resources and help make them feel welcome in Bronzeville.
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us, especially our students and families. This is the end of a chapter, but we are confident that the future will be abundant and bright for all.
